Assistive Technology Leadership Institute

Do you want more training than a full day workshop can provide? If so, join us for an in-depth training institute and discover the range of assistive technology solutions possible in the education field.

This four-day institute will provide a deeper understanding of the assistive technology process -- from the initial assessment to the implementation phase.

Participants will learn about the areas of technology used most in the education setting. In addition, there will be opportunities for participants to select half-day, hands-on sessions focused on specific areas (such as AT for reading and writing, computer access, etc.)

AT Leadership Institute
All classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Advancing Opportunities' Ewing office at 1005 Whitehead Road Extension, Suite 1. The cost is $499. Request information on the next available session of the Institute via email.

  • AT Consideration Process
  • AT and the IEP
  • AT Assessment Process

Session II

  • Tools for students with learning disabilities
  • Tools for students with autism
  • Tools for students with communication impairments
  • Tools for computer access
  • Tools for community integration (switches, environmental access, environment controls)

Session III

Participants will select two topics and participate in two hands-on, half-day programs. Areas of concentration include: AT for Reading and Writing, Augmentative Alternative Communication, Computer Access, Switches
